The Demon Slayer Entertainment District Arc’s extended finale did not disappoint, as it featured an introduction to one of the strongest antagonists in the series. Moving forward, Season 3 will adapt the Swordsmith Village Arc.
Doma made a short but memorable appearance in the episode, which leads up to him joining in the battle between the Demon Slayer corps and Kibutsuji Muzan’s Twelve Demon Moons.
So, who exactly is this mysterious figure? And how is he going to shake things up as the story progresses?
Warning: Major spoilers if you have yet to watch the Demon Slayer Entertainment District Arc or for those who haven’t read up until Chapter 96 of the manga.
Who is Doma?
Doma holds the title of Upper Moon Two, the second-ranked, amongst the Twelve Demon Moons in the Demon Slayer series. He is best known for his rainbow-colored eyes, an unusual trait he was born with that led his parents to believe he was able to hear the voices of gods.
Because of his extremely unique eyes, Doma’s parents groomed him to be the leader of a religious group called the Eternal Paradise Cult. He held this position of power until he was turned into a demon by Muzan.
A brief glimpse into Doma’s childhood shows that his mother killed his father because of the many affairs the latter had. His mother then took her own life right in front of a young Doma, who felt neither sad nor mournful over his parents’ deaths, but annoyed instead.
Doma met Kibutsuji Muzan when he turned 20, right before he was transformed into a demon. He eventually rose through the ranks to the Upper Moon Six by feasting almost exclusively on female humans, which he believes are better to eat due to them being packed with nutrients for their babies.
He is first introduced in Chapter 96 of the manga in which he is seen devouring a geisha in Yoshiwara. This was where he met Daki and Gyutaro, the antagonists of the Entertainment District Arc, and when he eventually turned the siblings into demons themselves.
