Who is Bond in Spy x Family?

Bond is the newest addition to the Forger family and one of the main characters of Spy x Family, a spy-comedy series originally written and illustrated by Tatsuya Endo.

As previously revealed in the series’ first cour which consists of 12 episodes, its story revolves around a spy codenamed “Twilight,” who accepts a secret mission from his agency called Operation Strix. A crucial part of the mission entails creating a fake family under the pseudonym Loid Forger to allow Twilight access to his target, a reclusive politician named Donovan Desmond.

In earlier episodes, Loid manages to acquire a secretly telepathic child by the name of Anya as a means to infiltrate Eden Academy, the elite school that Donovan’s son, Desmond, attends. The father-and-daughter duo then meet Yor Briar, an undercover assassin known as “Thorn Princess,” who agrees to play the part of the mother in their family to fulfill her own goals.

Bond joins the Forgers during the second cour as a furry companion for Anya. He is a large, long-haired canine whose appearance resembles the Great Pyrenees or Pyrenean Mountain Dog. His fluffy white fur and huge black paws are shown to remind Anya of the fictional TV hero Bondman’s gloves and shoes, which is how Bond later earns his name.

Originally used for cruel experiments, Bond was formerly referred to as Subject 8 and is able to use precognitive abilities as a result. He first encounters Anya outside an adoption fair, where she is able to read his mind and see Bond’s vision of the Forgers smiling at him.

Her interest piqued, Anya follows Bond and his caretakers to a hideout where the latter are revealed to be terrorists plotting an assassination. When the terrorists discover Anya and order to have her killed, Bond chews through his leash and leaps in front of Anya in her defense.

Personality of Bond in Spy x Family

As a once-mistreated experiment that gains precognition, Bond in Spy x Family is seen to be a kind and perceptive dog, who uses his abilities to protect rather than harm. In his first appearance, he saves a random child from a falling board, then later works with Anya to disrupt an assassination attempt and save Loid’s life.

First appearance of Bond in Spy x Family manga and anime

Bond appears in chapter 18 of the manga in the Doggy Crisis Arc. He first appeared in the anime in episode 13 titled Project Apple.
