Chinese video game giant Tencent announced the One Piece fighting game at a conference, according to Niko Partners analyst, Daniel Ahmad.

“Project Fighter” is its working title, subject to change on the game’s official release. It will be developed by Tencent’s Shenzhen-based in-house game development studio Morefun Studios with authorization from Bandai Namco Entertainment.

In the past, Bandai Namco released One Piece video games such as One Piece: Burning Blood, One Piece World Seeker, and One Piece Pirate Warriors.

The Project Fighter trailer showed off a lovely cinematic featuring the anime’s protagonist Monkey D. Luffy aboard the Going Merry ship.

The clip also featured other members of the Straw Hat Pirates crew like Nami and Zoro using their extraordinary moves.

Based on Daniel Ahmad’s tweet, Project Fighter is only planned to be released in China for now.

Tencent has not yet announced a global release for the game, but if Project Fighter becomes a success in China, we’re hoping that the studio will produce an international version.
