Team Liquid Apex Legends pro, Brenden “Casper” Marino has announced that he has tested positive for COVID-19.
The news comes right after Casper competed in the final of Apex Legends Online Tournament #2 last weekend.
Casper — along with Brandon “oh Nocturnal” Singer and Thomas “Flanker” Cook — competed as part of Team Liquid’s Blue squad.
On March 22, Casper tweeted that he was already showing symptoms of the COVID-19 coronavirus and, as the day continued, his condition only worsened.
Despite his young age, Casper is considered a high-risk patient due to pre-existing health complications he has dealt with since he was a child.
On day one, the team placed seventh in both the round of 128 and the semifinals to secure a place in the day two finals, but Casper’s condition continued to deteriorate.
On the day of the finals, Casper discovered that Liquid’s player substitution request had been denied, forcing him to continue playing for the sake of his teammates.
The team ended the tournament in seventh place, winning US$3,600 and securing 1,290 Apex Legends Global Series Points.
