The North American esports organization Cloud9 (C9) has announced its acquisition of a four-man professional roster that will be competing in the smash-hit battle royale game, Apex Legends.

C9, which already fields teams competing in League of Legends, Counter-Strike: Global Offensive, and Rocket League, among others, revealed its newest competitive roster through its official Twitter account.

Joseph ‘Frexs’ Sanchez, Greg ‘Grego’ McAllen, Jamison ‘PVPX’ Moore, and Justin ‘Chappie’ Andrews will make up C9’s Apex Legends roster. Both Frexs and Chappie have already played under the C9 banner in a different battle royale game, PlayerUnknown’s Battlegrounds (PUBG).

Apex Legends took the gaming world by storm when it released back in February 4, ending its first day with over 2.5 million players. A mere month after being released, Apex Legends has already hit over 50 million players, something that even Fortnite: Battle Royale was unable to do.

With the game’s overwhelming success, Apex Legends developer Respawn Studios said that they will be supporting its esports scene going forward. It’s no surprise that major esports organizations have been scrambling to pick up teams even before the first major tournaments have been announced. Aside from C9, the likes of Team SoloMid, Gen.G Esports, and Team Liquid, to name a few, have already acquired their own Apex Legends pro teams.

We can only expect that even more esports organizations to announce that they will also be competing in the game as Apex Legends’ esports scene continues to develop.
