Perks in Call of Duty Warzone grant certain benefits that can give a boost to the way you like to play, but new Operators in Caldera may not be using the best ones for their class loadouts.
In a recent video, Call of Duty YouTuber James “JGOD” Godoy goes through all the available options for the three perk slots to pick out the best perks for Warzone Season 2 in the current Caldera meta.
E.O.D. and Cold-Blooded are your best bets in the first perk slot
For the first slot, the YouTuber selected a trio of perks that improve survivability and help keep you alive during firefights.
E.O.D. is one of the best perks for Warzone because it reduces the damage players take from non-killstreak explosives and fire. With the introduction of Vanguard’s incendiary ammo, this perk also helps mitigate the additional damage from this ammunition type.
Cold-Blooded is another favorite because it makes you undetectable by AI targeting systems and thermal optics. You will also no longer trigger the High Alert warning or be highlighted by Combat Scout shots. making it more difficult for enemy players to track you down.
JGOD also listed Quick Fix as a strong perk for aggressive Rebirth Island players, who are more likely to get into more frequent engagements on the smaller map. Similar to E.O.D., this perk is a fast-acting counter to incendiary ammo because it immediately kickstarts health regeneration after a kill. On top of that, it can come in handy when facing off against multiple opponents.

Overkill and Tempered are top picks for Perk slot 2
The second perk slot is the most competitive category out of all three, with almost all perks adding solid value to your gameplay.
Right off the bat, JGOD singled out Overkill as an essential perk because it opens up your loadout to two primary weapons. You can equip both short- and long-range weapons with this perk, allowing you to thrive in a wider variety of firefights.
Tempered is another top-tier option for those who love to fall back and reengage. Swapping out the usual three 50-point plates for two 75-point plates, this Warzone-exclusive perk helps you regain full armor faster.
Ghost is also still an overpowered perk because it stops you from being detected by standard UAVs and Heartbeat Sensors, but it’s not as powerful as it used to be. JGOD said that Ghost users are now detectable by advanced UAVs, so it’s harder to sneak around circle collapses for a calculated team wipe.
Given the low time-to-kill in Warzone, High Alert is a powerful tool that can save unsuspecting Operators from an ambush, particularly in a large, open map like Caldera. This perk triggers visual cues when enemies outside of your field of view see you, and it also allows you to hear the footsteps of players using the Dead Silence field upgrade.
Amped and Combat Scout rule the third perk slot
JGOD selected Amped as his go-to pick in the last category, even calling it one of the best perks overall.
Amped helps Operators swap weapons faster, making it a must-have for snipers who keep a secondary SMG ready for close-quarter fights.
Combat Scout is another invaluable option that works best when you’re in a squad. With this perk equipped, your shots will highlight enemies on your screen and automatically mark their location for the rest of your team.
Another perk that helps you keep track of enemy movements is Tracker. It highlights the footprints of enemies, and is great when you’re in pursuit of opponents. However, it has the downside of potentially encouraging the bad habit of placing your crosshair too close to the floor due to the grounded visual cues.
