Warzone 2.0 is the next generation of Call of Duty’s hit battle royale title.
Several major changes are on the way, including a new mechanic for custom loadouts and greater depth to the Gulag.
Players are sent to the Gulag when they are killed on the battlefield — in Warzone, they had to take on another player in a 1v1 duel to see who gets to return to the field. The loser is eliminated immediately.
Warzone 2.0 switches things up with 2v2 matchups and the introduction of the Jailer, an AI character who can be killed. Here’s what you need to know about the changes.

How to escape the Warzone 2.0 Gulag
The new 2v2 environment pits randomly paired duos against each other, where they must work together to take the other team down.
All players will receive a predefined loadout. At launch, this is either a pistol or a shotgun, a lethal grenade, and a tactical grenade.
Additional weaponry and gear can be found toward the map’s center. You can take any weapons you pick up with you if you escape.
The new Gulag arena is a roughly symmetrical, small-scale arena meant for 2v2 combat. In between the two spawn areas is a raised courtyard on one wall and an open courtyard with a circular platform on the other. The middle lane is completely open, framed by a set of gallows on one side and a platform on the other.
The map will also include the Jailer, who jumps down onto the circular platform in the middle of the match to help speed up combat. Both teams now have a choice — they can wait for the Jailer to spawn and take him down together (this may require proximity chat), which will return all four players to the match, or try to go for the elimination victory.
The Jailer has more health than a normal Operator and is armed with a Minigun, which takes a second to wind up before unleashing a hail of bullets.
Betrayal is also a very real possibility, and your opponents could end up shooting you in the back while you’re busy trying to take the Jailer down.
If neither team nor the Jailer is eliminated after a brief period of time, all four players lose.
Warzone 2.0 will be available to play on November 16. You can read Infinity Ward’s full blog post here.
