Warzone 2.0 brings some big adjustments in its upcoming season. With tweaks to the in-game cash economy and looting and loadout mechanics, the Season 2 changes are geared toward improving the quality of life of players.
Season 2 also sees the return of the 1v1 Gulag from the original Warzone, dispensing with the new Jailer NPC.
Here’s a look at all the changes going into Season 2, which should remove some of the friction as you gear up.
All Warzone 2.0 Season 2 changes
Cash economy
Season 2 makes it slightly easier to accumulate cash as you explore Al Mazrah. The lowest value of cash piles from ground loot is being increased to $800, while cash registers now provide a minimum of $500 (up from $100 previously).
Cash can also be acquired from containers and white Stronghold supply boxes, but can no longer be found in basic or legendary supply boxes.
To balance these changes, the cash reward for completing contracts is being reduced slightly. This means that completing contracts may no longer be the most lucrative way to get cash quickly.
This redistribution is designed to enable quicker and more consistent gameplay in pursuit of resources.
Loot and inventory
The user interface for looting is also being overhauled. Warzone 2.0 will pivot away from loot windows and menus, adopting a floating loot system instead. This means that loot will now drop out of all containers in the world, including enemy player backpacks, similar to loot from supply boxes.
This change is intended to improve the pace of gameplay by minimizing the time spent navigating the UI, allowing players to get back into action faster. When looting enemy players, this also ensures that the gameplay immersion is not broken by having to go into a separate menu.
At the same time, Infinity Ward is standardizing the type of backpack available. Medium and large backpacks will no longer be available, and every player will have the same backpack throughout the entire game.
This reduces the impact of stacking medical supplies, equipment, and killstreaks.
Loadouts
Infinity Ward is also changing how players acquire their full custom loadouts. At long last, Season 2 will introduce customizable perk packages, where players can create their own unique packages instead of being restricted to a preset selection.
However, this feature will launch with a slightly smaller pool of perks, which the developer may slowly expand over time. Infinity Ward is taking a cautious approach to custom perks, in order to ensure that all available perks provide good utility while remaining balanced.
On top of that, the price of primary weapons is being reduced at Buy Stations. This should make them more accessible earlier in the game, allowing players to hunt down others with their weapon of choice.
The price of Loadout Drop Markers has been lowered too, so squads can acquire their full loadouts quicker as well. Loadout Drop Markers will also be added as extremely rare loot in Al Mazrah.
Finally, a second Loadout Drop public event will be introduced, so drops now happen on the first and fifth circles in each match.
