Modern Warfare 2 ranked play is a more limited version of the game, but offers intense battles, ranks, and rewards.

In terms of modes, there are only three available to play in ranked, and within those modes, there are only a select few maps. These are the modes and maps most catered to competitive play and fairness.

Modern Warfare 2 has 13 ranked play maps available



Search and destroy, hardpoint, and control are the three competitive modes found in ranked play. There are five maps on rotation in hardpoint and search and destroy, while there are only three control maps to play.

Modern Warfare 2 skill divisions

Why are you playing these modes? Well to earn the great rewards available only from ranked play.

How do you get them? Well, you work your way up through the different tiers. Ranging from Bronze to Iridescent, the ranks span from 0 skill rating (SR) all the way up to 10,000+ SR according to the Call of Duty team.

  • Bronze – 0-899 SR
  • Silver – 900-2,099 SR
  • Gold – 2,100-3,599 SR
  • Platinum – 3,600-5,399 SR
  • Diamond – 5,400-7,499 SR
  • Crimson – 7,500-9,999 SR
  • Iridescent – 10,000 SR minimum
  • Top 250 – 10,000+ SR
