Warzone 2.0 reworks several familiar systems in the battle royale game, including a new circle mechanic, 2v2 Gulag, and a new armor system.
The new armor plates system makes changes to one of the most vital gameplay loops. Armor is crucial to staying alive in Al Mazrah — but it is no longer a simple matter of finding armor plates and slotting them into all three slots.
The new system introduces slightly more strategic depth, making you work harder to obtain maximum protection. Here’s a look at how exactly it works and what you need to do.

Warzone 2.0 new armor plates system explained
You spawn into a match with two armor plates equipped, the same as Warzone. However, you cannot utilize your third armor slot yet, even if you find an additional armor plate, which means that it will take longer for you to max out your armor.
Instead, you’ll need to find an Armor Vest, either from ground loot or another player. This vest will allow you to finally have three plates active.
In addition, quality-of-life improvements have been made to allow you to tell what level of armor an enemy has equipped, similar to Apex Legends. When shooting an enemy, color-coded hitmarkers and an armor icon will flash — purple indicates that they have three armor plates, while blue means that they don’t have a vest.
This provides important information about whether you should press ahead and attempt to take someone down, or fall back until you’re better equipped.
When plating, a new plate will also heal for one full plate. This means that if your plate health is at one and a half plates, using a new plate will put you at two and a half. Previously, repairing a damaged plate would consume a full plate.
