There are many aspects to recoil control in Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0. While attachments help control recoil by improving attributes like recoil steadiness and stabilization, there is another lesser known facet of recoil control — the slightly more ambiguous visual recoil.
Visual recoil refers to how much your gun appears to bounce or sway. While it has no impact on where your bullets actually land, it can have a very real effect on how you control your recoil.
If there is heavy visual recoil, it can become difficult to tell how you should be correcting the weapon’s recoil.
Fortunately, there’s a lot you can do to reduce the recoil you see, without ever needing to use any attachments. Here’s how to lower your gun’s recoil visually, according to TheXcusiveAce.
Change these settings to lower your visual recoil
Field of View
The first setting you want to change is your Field of View. While a larger FOV allows you to see more of the battlefield, FOV also affects how you perceive visual recoil.
Idle sway and visual gun kick is significantly reduced with a higher FOV — the difference is immediately noticeable when going from 80 to 100, making it less distracting and far easier to track targets.
At the same time, you should change the ADS Field of View from Independent to Affected. This ensures that your wider FOV also applies when you aim down sight on low magnification optics (less than 3.25x).
Optic zoom level
The optic you choose also has an impact on visual recoil. For weapons like assault rifles and SMGs, a standard red dot optic typically works best because of the lower visual recoil.
The higher the magnification, the higher your recoil will appear, so you should go for a lower zoom optic for closer-range weapons.
Optic tuning
Finally, the weapon tuning system lets you further optimize your recoil. In Gunsmith, you can adjust the position of the optic to be closer or farther from your eye.
In general, the farther eye distance works best for reducing visual recoil. This does result in a smaller sight window, however, so you’ll want to experiment to find what works best for you.
