Is the Modern Warfare 2 Season 2 nerf to the RPK enough? That’s exactly what Call of Duty YouTuber TheXclusiveAce looked at in his recent video. With nearly 1 million subscribers on YouTube, XclusiveAce is touted as one of the best channels to watch when looking for information regarding what’s good, overpowered, or just not worth using.

In his video discussing overall gun balance in Season 2, he begins by breaking down the damage adjustments given to the RPK. The guns damage was reduced across the board with the base being lowered to 31-28, the torso to 32-28, and the upper torso now being 34-29.

With that being said, he states that “for the most part, this gun is going to feel the same it did before damage-wise in 6v6.” That doesn’t mean things haven’t changed, however, as he on to say that it will have a “slightly less consistent 3-short kill from 35.5-57m” according to the video.

Players will now need two upper torso shots landing alongside one lower torso shot rather than previously when that was reversed. So aim high!

In another attempt to bring the weapon down a peg, there was a very minor range nerf to the RPK. It was only a roughly 5% nerf though and most people won’t notice much of a difference in that regard.

The aim down sight time also saw an increase which XclusiveAce’s testing determined raised it from 430ms up to around 450ms. And finally, ADS received one more adjustment with the movement speed being brought down from 1.99 meters per second to 1.9 meters per second.

Overall each of the nerfs separately aren’t much to look at, but when combined “this gun is going to feel slightly worse than it did pre-patch,” he concluded. So basically, if you loved the RPK before then you will most likely enjoy using the weapon just as much now in Season 2.

Former professional Call of Duty player Tyler “TeePee” Polchow recently opened up about his own thoughts on Season 2 of Warzone with a focus on the gun balance as well.
