After Arcane’s release on Netflix, we were graced by many badass chicks, handsome men, and buffed bodies in League of Legends cosplays portraying Vi, Jinx, Viktor, Silco, Ekko, and more.
Overrated and overdone, you might say, which is why we have so much admiration for this cosplayer who took things to a whole new level — by cosplaying Summoner Spells instead.
Known as Rena_Angel on Twitter, they posted two Summoner Spell cosplays that even got the attention of Summoner’s Rift Lead Designer Matt “Riot Phroxzon” Leung-Harrison.
- They told him he could become anything, so he became Star Guardian Soraka
- Jankos: ‘I asked Plumy to cosplay Nidalee, when she showed up we lost to T1 0-3’
Creative, DIY Summoner Spell cosplay that even you can do at home
While Rena_Angel does also cosplay a variety of League of Legends champions, popular Genshin Impact characters like Venti and Kazuha, and even Pokemon, his limited budget may actually be perfect when it comes to cosplaying Summoner Spells, which debuted with the game 11 years ago.
Defaulting on “D” and “F” keys, Summoner Spells are one of the building blocks of the MOBA game. Just as important as the champions on Summoner’s Rift, Heal, Exhaust, Ignite, Smite, and Ghost are some of the oldest spells that still exist in-game.
Even though they’ve been around since League of Legends‘ debut, their art hasn’t really changed much over the years, retaining a retro feel.
While they don’t categorize themselves as a low cost cosplayer, but rather an “isekai” (another world) one, Rena_Angel’s cosplay style is very much DIY. Crafting majority of armor, clothing, and weaponry at home, they posts entertaining cosplays of themselves from the comfort of his room that’s bound to make you smile.
In his unique Summoner Spell cosplay, he captured the tormented look of the unnamed soldier in Heal. Paying attention to detail, he wrapped a cloth on his left shoulder, dousing it with ketchup to mimic the soldier’s bleeding wound.
He also created DIY armor from gray tape to portray the tired, anonymous soldier in Exhaust.
The best part? He shared his step-by-step guide on how you too can put together your very own Summoner Spell Heal cosplay utilizing recyclable scrap materials at home.
Happy cosplaying! Follow Rena_Angel on Twitter to support their work.
