Is the Hunter x Hunter manga going on hiatus again?
Author and illustrator of the series Yoshihiro Togashi teased the manga’s return last year by posting cryptic sketches on a new Twitter account. At the time of writing, Togashi expressed in his most recent tweet that he had completed the 400th chapter of the manga.
Before its four-year hiatus, the manga was on its 390th chapter in its eighth story arc, the Succession Contest arc, released on November 26, 2018.
While most of the story is centered around Gon Freecs, the manga’s latest arc highlights Kurapika as he gets entangled with the Kakin Empire’s 14 princes on the Black Whale ship.
Hunter x Hunter was first serialized in 1998 and quickly became a fan favorite. The story follows Gon Freecss, a young boy who discovers that his father, who he believed was dead, is a legendary Hunter.
In the series, Hunters are elite individuals specializing in various skills, such as tracking, exploration, and combat. The franchise is best known for its unique characters, intricate world-building, and overarching plot.
However, the series has also been plagued with a long history of hiatuses. Togashi has taken multiple breaks over the years due to health issues, which has caused the series to be put on hold for extended periods. The most recent hiatus started in 2018, and fans have been eagerly awaiting news of the series’ return ever since.
There have yet to be any official announcements from Shonen Jump or Togashi regarding the future of the Hunter x Hunter manga.
