Part 2 of Chainsaw Man manga tells a brand new story within Denji‘s devil-infested universe.

The Academy Saga focuses on a new protagonist named Asa Mitaka — an introverted high school student who detests small talk, class activities, and devils — and her everyday life after the events of Part 1.

As Denji continues to work in the shadows as a vigilante devil, new devils are popping up in Tokyo to test Chainsaw Man’s strength and power.

To help you get acquainted with the new faces, here’s a detailed introduction to Fami in Chainsaw Man, including her background story, personality, and first appearance in the manga.

Warning: Major spoilers if you haven’t read chapters 98-117 of the Chainsaw Man manga.

Who is Fami in Chainsaw Man Part 2?

Fami is a supporting character in Chainsaw Man Part 2. She is the Famine Devil from the Four Horsemen, a group of powerful devils.

Asa first meets Fami during her fight with Yuko — who’s possessed by the Justice Devil — at school. The powerful devil is disguised as a high school student and mentions that Yoru, the War Devil, is her “little sister”.

After Asa cuts Yuko into pieces with her uniform sword, she feels an overwhelming sense of guilt. Fami steps in and asks if she wants to save her, to which she says yes. The Famine Devil then heals the creature, causing it to grow in size and destroy the school building.

The next day, Asa asks Yoru if she knew the person, but she replies that she has no no clue. The student soon finds out that Fami is part of the Student Council/Devil Hunter club alongside Haruka Iseumi, the president of both organizations.

Fami reveals her true identity as the Famine Devil during Asa’s pseudo-date with Denji at the aquarium. After taking Yoru with her and teleporting out of the location, Fami demands that she turns Denji into a weapon or else she’ll starve.

It turns out that the aquarium is being possessed by the Eternity Devil, the same one that Denji fought at Morin Hotel in Part 1. The two run into Haruka Iseumi, his crew, and Yoshida as they try to find a way out.

Asa comes up with the plan of “buying the aquarium” with the one million yen that they stole from the endless row of rooms. Now that the aquarium is something valuable to her, the student turns the entire place into a spear, thus breaking the Eternity Devil’s illusion.

Once outside, Yoru takes over Asa’s body and defeats the Eternity Devil with the help of Yoshida and his tentacles. The devil briefly mentions that Fami broke a deal that they made.

Out of all the devil hunters present, only Yoshida catches Fami watching the mayhem from the top of a nearby building.

From the looks of it, Fami is on Yoru’s side, helping with her goal of waging war with Chainsaw Man.

Fami’s personality and powers in Chainsaw Man

Fami in Chainsaw Man comes off as a mysterious person with an unbreakable poker face. The character often blends into the background without anyone really noticing her.

The only thing that we know about her is that she’s connected to Yoru, the War Devil. The two of them are part of the Four Horsemen.

Fami hasn’t shown much of her powers in the manga. As of now, she’s able to rapidly heal other devils and increase their strength and size as seen during Asa’s fight with the Justice Devil. She can also teleport and communicate with others from a distance.

First appearance of Fami in Chainsaw Man

Fami is briefly mentioned in chapter 84 of Part 1 as a member of the Four Horsemen.

Fami appears in chapter 110 as a bystander during Asa’s fight with the Justice Devil.
