Dota 2’s patch 7.32 dropped right in the middle of ESL One Genting—and midlaners might need to prepare for a meta shift.
7.31 skipped over map changes, but we finally have some in the new patch. Most of the changes were centered around the Dire’s jungle to address the side’s advantage, and moving the outpost and high ground back to make it less accessible to Roshan.
The other big change was the removal of midlane small camps for both sides—a convenient source of backup income for midlaners.

Midlane small camps removed in Dota 2 7.32 — what this means for solo mid
The midlane has turned into a battle of attrition for most heroes. It’s rare to see solo kills, and sometimes even foolish to try. There are so many things to consider—the tower aura that gives three armor, endless regen from Water Runes and bottle refills, and the small camp for heroes to stack and farm.
This has given rise to a new class of midlaners who spam out spells in the lane and the jungle, with little concern about actually laning.
Removing one factor from this equation could make lane dominator heroes feel better to play. Now, heroes that fall behind don’t have as convenient of a way to recover, instead needing to retreat deeper into the jungle.
Most midlaners will also hit their power spikes slightly later into the game. The early game should be a bit slower in terms of rotations, since midlaners can’t quickly get their ultimates online and start ganking the sidelanes.
All in all, this should even the experience curve across the board for cores in the early game, making sidelanes more resistant to offensives from the opposing team.
