Dota 2’s hero roster is welcoming a new addition early next year.
After the all-star match on the final day of The International 2022, Valve introduced Muerta, a new Dota 2 hero that looks inspired by popular Latin American holiday called Día de los Muertos.
She is the second character to be added to the game’s cast of heroes this year, following Primal Beast, who was released on February 23, 2023.

Muerta will be Valve’s new Dota 2 hero
The new hero was introduced to the live and online audience in TI11 through a short 50-second teaser video.
Muerta, translated from Spanish to English, means dead woman. Her design is taken straight out of the Day of the Dead holiday that originated in Mexico, where families and friends gather to pay respects to those who’ve passed away.
People honor their deceased with many different decorated skulls and Aztec marigold flowers, which can be seen throughout Muerta’s motif.
At first glance, the hero sounds very disgruntled with the living and the dead. It seems like the character will be an assassin-type hero who uses a flintlock pistol that glows in the moonlight.
Muetra showcased her undead power at the end of the trailer, switching to a different form with ghosts surrounding her.
Information on the new character remains scarce, but make sure to follow ONE Esports on Facebook and Twitter for more news on the upcoming Dota 2 hero.
