Chinese Dota star and former Team Aster carry player, Song “Sccc” Chun, has announced that he will be taking an indefinite break from competitive play after he failed to join a new team.

Sccc revealed during a streaming session that he decided to step away from competition after his negotiations with this new, unnamed team fell through.

“It is understandable, everyone has their own perspective. There may not be another way yet, so I’ll take a break for some time. Both of us had our own concerns and I understand that so will just rest for now.” Sccc told his viewers in Chinese. 

Sccc added that he will also be leaving Shanghai to return to his hometown of Nanchang since he is now unemployed. He added that he will be focusing on streaming after he finds a “place with lower daily expenses.”

Sccc started his professional career with Newbee in 2015, eventually gaining recognition as one of the best midlaners in China and leading his team to the grand finals of The International 2017. He left Newbee in September 2019 to join Aster as their carry player.

Sccc, along with Pan “Fade” Yi and Kee Chyuan “ChYuan” Ng, notably parted ways with Aster last month in the first major roster shuffle for the Chinese Dota scene this season.

Sccc is now the third high-profile player to have step away from competitive play in recent months. Clinton “Fear” Loomis and Daryl “iceiceice” Koh Pei Xiang both previously announced that they will take a break from competitive play until the Dota Pro Circuit returns next year.
