The Four Angry Men (4AM) Chinese Dota 2 superteam will finally be making their first tournament appearance at the CDA-FDC Dota 2 Professional Championship from October 22 to November 1.

The CDA-FDC Professional Championship will feature eight of the best teams in China competing for a ¥600,000 (~US$89,500) prize pool. Six of the participating teams were directly invited to the event, with the remaining two to be determined through an online qualifier.

4AM will be entering the tournament as replacements for Vici Gaming (VG), who cited “personal reasons, burnouts, and schedule” as their reasons for withdrawing from the event.

Joining 4AM in the list of directly-invited teams are PSG.LGD, EHOME, Royal Never Give Up (RNG), Team Aster, and Invictus Gaming (IG).

The CDA-FDC Professional Championship will kick off with a group stage from October 22-25, where the teams will be split into two groups of four to compete in a single round-robin with best-of-three matches.

4AM will headline Group A, with EHOME and RNG grouped with them, while Group B is comprised PSG.LGD, Aster, and IG. Each group will also be joined by one of the two qualifying teams.

The team with the best record from each group will advance to the second round of the Playoffs Upper Bracket, while the second and third-placed teams will start in the first round of the bracket. Meanwhile, the bottom team from each group will be eliminated early.

The Playoffs, which will run from October 26 to November 1, will be a double elimination bracket with full best-of-three matches except for the Grand Finals, which will be a best-of-five series.

The CDA-FDC Professional Championship will be the first time that the 4AM superteam of Zhang “Eurus” Chengjun, Lu “Somnus丶M” Yao, Zhou “Yang” Haiyang, Xu “fy” Linsen, and Ru “RedPanda” Zhihao will see action. But while the star-studded squad has yet to play their first official match together, they have already been caught in a whirlwind of controversy.

4AM’s initial roster announcement listed Liu “Sylar” Jiajun as the carry player instead of Eurus despite earlier leaks confirming the latter in that position. However, just a day after that initial reveal, 4AM dropped Sylar as their long-rumored lineup with Eurus as the carry was made official.

Shortly after that turbulent roster reveal, former VG coach, Bai “rOtK” Fan, revealed he was stood up by 4AM and denied a salary to coach the team, even after multiple attempts by him at a compromise.

All eyes and expectations will surely be on 4AM at the CDA-FDC Professional Championship, especially after all the drama stirred up by the mere assembly of its superteam.
