The third day of The International 2019 Main Event saw OG keep its hopes of being the first team to win TI twice alive, as they defeated Evil Geniuses 2-1 in a tightly contested series that looked like it could go either way. After being stomped in the first game, OG knuckled down and played incredibly to take the next two games, knocking EG into the lower bracket.
Meanwhile, PSG.LGD seemed to have its opponents, Vici Gaming, all figured out, and routed them 2-0, even going for a greedy three-core Hand of Midas build that wasn’t punished by Vici Gaming.
OG and PSG.LGD will now meet in the Upper Bracket final, and you can be sure the Chinese squad is looking to best the reigning TI Champions and win the Aegis of Champions on home soil.
The Lower Bracket rounds saw an upset with Infamous beating out Newbee 2-1, making history in the process as the first South American squad to have made it this far.
It was a nail-biter of a series, but Hector “Hector” Rodriguez carried his team to victory.
Team Secret vs Mineski was closer than expected, with Mineski almost knocking Secret out of the tournament, but Secret prevailed in the end to win 2-1.
Day 4 will see the Lower Brackets continue, with Chinese underdog squad Royal Never Give Up going up against a resurgent Team Liquid. Meanwhile Infamous will look to do the impossible and knock out Team Secret, while Evil Geniuses will go up against the winner of RNG vs Liquid.
