Fortnite: Battle Royale‘s v9.21 update adds the explosive “Proximity Grenade Launcher” to the game.
The new weapon fires arching, bouncing projectiles that explode when they’re in range of an opponent. The detonation radius is 250 units — or about half the width of a tile — and the explosion radius is 300 units. The weapon does 67-70 explosive damage and 131-138 environmental damage.
The weapon is available in Epic and Legendary rarities and can be found in Chests, Loot Carriers, Supply Drops, and Vending Machines.
The controversial Storm Flip item has also been nerfed. It now causes a flat 5 damage per second, instead of being based on which Storm Phase is currently active. The nerfed Storm Flip has also been added back into Arena and Tournament playlists.
“We noticed with scaling damage that players held onto their Storm Flip later into matches, creating undesirable effects. This change gives players more value in using it earlier in matches,” Epic said.
Other changes include an increase in the drop rates of Shield Potions, Small Shield Potions, and Shotguns.
The patch will also be introducing a new Limited Time Mode called “Horde Rush.” The mode will be a cooperative four-player squad mode divided up into multiple stages.
Players will travel across the map and defend areas against Fiends, Fiend Spawners, Boss Fiends and a horde of minions. Survive for as long as possible and kill enemies to rack up points.
Horde Rush will be available on June 13.
