Former CS:Go pro Michael ‘shroud’ Grzesiek is thinking about the US$30 million Fortnite World Cup, but it’s not about the money.
A competitive player through and through, shroud has revealed that he is considering joining the Fortnite World Cup qualifiers, if only to prove he’s among the best when it comes to FPS and battle royale titles.
While shroud has been lying low due to a surgery, he has publicly stated that he might quit Apex Legends due to bugs and server issues.
And now, he’s looking at the World Cup, telling his audience that views are probably the reason why considering participating in it as he’s not a fan of the game. He highlighted that Tyler “Ninja” Blevins had made close to a billion views thanks to Fortnite, while he’s only crossed 450 million.
“At the end of the day, it’s Fortnite, and it’s a bad game,” he said.
The streamer had mentioned back in January this year that money isn’t his prime concern.
Shroud had also voiced his concerns over the way Epic Games is handling its pro scene and added that he’s been told by a lot of pro players that they are quitting after the World Cup.
FaZe Clan’s Turner “Tfue” Tenney, has expressed a similar sentiment, telling his audience that he’s quitting from competitive play altogether once the Fortnite World Cup ends.
The Fortnite World Cup qualifiers started on April 13 and continues up until June 16, with weekly tournaments each holding a US$1 million prize pool.
