Season 8 of Fortnite: Battle Royale is almost upon us and it will surely bring a lot of changes to the game. One of those, a possible new location on the map called “Sharky Shrubs” has been leaked.
Fortnite Intel first reported that the leak was from a product description for a Fortnite-themed backpack on the website of the backpack company Sprayground.
The product description of the backpack, called “Fortnite Shark Royale” read “The ONLY official Fortnite backpack in our Leatherette fabric. Depicting our favorite Fortnite skins running from the storm across Sharky Shrubs”.
The description seems to hint that Sharky Shrubs would be a new area of interest located on the Fortnite map for Season 8. The description of the backpack has since changed however, with all mention of Sharky Shrubs removed.
While the addition of a new location has not yet been confirmed by Fortnite developer Epic Games, the leak still holds water. A recently-released teaser for Fortnite Season 8 hinted at a possible pirate theme for the update, opening up a connection between a pirate or aquatic theme for Season 8 with the leaked location having a water-related name.
The addition of a new location with Season 8 would also follow what happened during the release of previous seasons. Season 7 saw the appearance of new snowy areas on the map like Frosty Flights and Polar Peak, for example.
We can only wait for the release of Season 8 itself to confirm whether the leak was true or not. Luckily, we won’t have long to wait as the update is set to go live tomorrow.
