Tim Hortons x Tencent opens esports-themed coffee shop
Canadian coffee chain Tim Hortons and Chinese company Tencent have teamed up to launch a special cafe catered to esports fans.
The cafe will not only offer Tim Hortons menu classics like double-doubles and Timbits, but it will also serve themed drinks, according to analyst Daniel Ahmad.
The collaboration’s first branch is now open in Shenzhen, one of China’s major cities.
The Shenzhen branch has a dedicated esports zone with everything gamers need: comfortable gaming chairs, a TV screen that plays matches, and trophies (for the ‘Gram)!

The cafe also features an interactive table with player and team information and statistics.
The Chinese esports scene
Esports is a big industry in China. The region has top-tier teams and organizations in MOBA games like Dota 2 and League of Legends. Some of these teams include Royal Never Give Up, Invictus Gaming, and Vici Gaming.
Additionally, Tencent Games’ mobile MOBA title Honor of Kings (internationally known as Arena of Valor) is one of the most popular games in the country with 100 million daily active players.
