What are the best massively multiplayer online roleplaying games on the market? Which MMORPG is worth your time playing in 2023?
These are questions you may get answered via an MMORPG tier list.
Lucky for you, popular MMO YouTuber TheLazyPeon has put together exactly that. He first created one based on his own communities feelings before creating one of his own for comparison. His community provided over 5,000 responses via a poll he posted to his channel.
- The 7 most recognizable voice actors in esports and gaming
- Why Genshin Impact is still the best online RPG to play right now
The community and YouTuber definitely disagreed on the tier list
For the community tier list, he took the highest percentage and that’s what was selected for the placement of each game. For instance, Guild Wars received 22% for the B tier, but 22.6% voted C tier and so he placed it in the C tier.
He used a total of 47 different MMORPGs ranging from games released before the year 2000 all the way up until games released in the last two years.
Given not a single game was placed in the S and D tier, we’ll leave them out of our table.

TheLazyPeon was pretty clear throughout that some of the selections by his audience were not ones he agreed with and so he went ahead and made an MMO tier list of his own for the year 2023.
TheLazyPeon’s MMORPG tier list 2023
TIER | GAMES |
A | Final Fantasy XIV Guild Wars 2 World of Warcraft World of Warcraft Classic Original Runescape New World Lost Ark The Elder Scrolls Online Albion V Rising Black Desert Online |
B | EVE Online Runescape 3 Star Wars The Old Republic Archeage |
C | Neverwinter Guild Wars Lord of the Rings Online Lineage II Rift Blade & Soul Maplestory Project Gorgon PSO2 New Genesis Dungeons & Dragons Online |
D | Vindictus Riders of Icarus Tower of Fantasy Allods Online Warhammer Online Aion Embers Adrift The Secret World Trove DC Universe Conquerors Blade Gloria Victis Final Fantasy XI Mortal Online II |
F | Bless Unleashed Adventure Quest 3D Metin 2, Skyforge Undecember Diablo Immortal League of Angels Swords of Legends Online |
As you can see, there’s a pretty large disparity between the two lists. Worth point out, however, is that Final Fantasy XIV, Guilds Wars 2, Original Runescape, World of Warcraft, and World of Warcraft Classive managed to take A tier in both lists.
As some of the most popular and time-tested MMOs on the market, this comes as no surprise. And if you’re looking for which games you should probably avoid, then look no further than the games that make both lists F tier.
Bless Unleashed, Adventure Quest 3D, Metin 2, Skyforge, Undecember, Diablo Immortal, League of Angels, and Swords of Legends Online are all the games that found themselves at the bottom of both MMORPG tier lists.
