Game for Peace, Tencent’s Chinese remake of PUBG Mobile, censored and reskinned to meet the stringent regulations of the Chinese government, will be holding its first major esports tournament this weekend.
The Peacekeeper Elite Global Invitational 2019 will be held on August 31 in Shanghai and will feature 25 teams from around the world.
15 of the squads have qualified for the tournament through online qualifiers held in China. The remaining 10 squads were invited from around the world based on their standings in their regional PUBG Mobile Club Open Spring Championship.
The invited teams include Team Secret, Evos Esports, BRK Esports, and RRQ Athena.
The tournament format will feature six matches, with four being played in third-person perspective on Erangel, and two in first-person perspective on Miramar.
Prize money for the tournament has not been revealed yet.
