Daigo wins the Capcom Cup Asia East online qualifier

Against all the odds Daigo Umehara has won the most stacked Street Fighter V tournament of the year.

The 39-year-old legend bested the likes of Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi, Hyungsuk “Verloren” Kong, and Keita “Fuudo” Ai, en route to his first major tournament win in years.

Daigo defeated Team Beast teammate, Fuudo, in the grand final, putting on a masterclass with Guile and showcasing the reads, reaction speed, and flawless execution that made him one of the greatest of all time.

While Fuudo played well, he could not get past The Beast’s impenetrable defense, as Daigo kept him away with a constant barrage of sonic booms and anti-airs, including a Critical Art anti-air finisher to end the tournament.

Cignal Ultra qualify for MPL PH Season 6

MPL PH Season 2 champions, Cignal Ultra, are looking to make a comeback in Season 6. But after missing the whole of last season, the squad had to make it through qualifiers first to even reach the regular season.

While the team dominated the rest of their Group A qualifier matches, they encountered heavy resistance against a young and hungry Arkangel Esports squad in the Group A grand final.

Arkangel were able to take game one, putting Cignal Ultra on the brink of elimination. However, a close game two and some late-game heroics from Rhea saw Cignal Ultra even up the score.

With everything riding on one last game, this time it was Tusjin that stepped up for Cignal Ultra, swinging the momentum to his side with a crucial pick on Arkangel’s Yasuwo that let Cignal Ultra claim the Lord and ultimately finish the game.

MPL PH Season 6’s regular season begins on August 21.

Sentinals win the PAX Arena Valorant Invitational

Sentinels has won a talent-filled PAX Arena Valorant Invitational, defeating Cloud9 in an entertaining 3-1 grand final, and taking home the top prize of US$10,000.

While Cloud9 superstar, Tyson “TenZ” Ngo, was able to keep the match competitive, clutching out multiple rounds by himself, he didn’t have enough support from the rest of his teammates to deal with the deadly duo of Hunter “SicK” Mims and Jay “Sinatraa” Won.

After three highly competitive games, for what would end up being the final game of the tournament, Cloud9 made the curious decision to put TenZ on Viper instead of his usual Jett. He was unable to have the same level of impact on the more defensive-oriented agent and Cloud9 quickly found themselves down 0-7. The final round saw SicK clutch the round, planting the spike and grabbing a triple kill to win the tournament.
