Hotdog29 wins PPL Fight Masters 2019
Hong Kong player Yeh “Hotdog29” Man Ho outlasted all competitors to win his first-ever Capcom Pro Tour (CPT) Premier event by Japanese newcomer and one of the remaining Zangief specialists, Kichipa-Mu, in a thrilling best-of-three Grand Final match with his M. Bison.
He took home 700 points and US$7,000 and is now ranked ninth in the CPT. Hotdog29 ended his final round in style, taking advantage of Kichipa-Mu’s defensive style by trapping and dismantling his opponent for a Perfect K.O.
Razer CEO pledges S$10 million to Singapore esports
Razer CEO Min-Liang Tan and Singapore native has pledged to commit S$10 million (US$7.25 million) over the next year to the gaming and esports scene in his home country.
The funding will go towards supporting esports teams in Singapore and investing in gaming and esports companies that are either in Singapore or founded by Singaporeans, Tan said in an announcement on Facebook.
“I’d like to give back and do more for gaming in Singapore,” said Tan.
Apple’s latest iPhone 11 and Apple Arcade make a lot of gaming sense
Apple announced three new iPhones this week. The iPhone 11, iPhone 11 Pro Max feature top-of-the-line specs including dual and triple rear cameras, A13 Bionic processors, and a free year-long subscription to Apple’s new streaming service, Apple TV+.
Specs aside, it’s the introduction of the long-awaited Apple Arcade that should get gamers all hyped up. The US$5 monthly gaming service comes with 100 new games that you won’t find on other platforms such as the Google Play Store.
These games will come without ads and in-game purchases and can be played offline. You’ll only need one single subscription to allow six family members to join in the fun.
Thailand’s Friki goes undefeated at Cape Town Showdown 7
Di “Friki” Lhong took the top Tekken spot with a quick and impressive performance Cape Town Showdown 7 without dropping a single series.
For the Grand Finals, Friki took on Farouk “DAXPT” Suleman, a local favorite who has a penchant for playing Jin.
With the series standing at 2-1 in favor of Friki, the Thai champion asserted his dominance with a solid launcher and a follow-up Rodeo grab. Although DAXPT successfully initiated a grab right after, Friki courageously slid in for one more low hit, finishing his opponent off and becoming the champion of Cape Town Showdown.
