Team Liquid win their fourth consecutive North American League Championship Series title
Team Liquid made history by winning their fourth consecutive North American League of Legends Championship Series (NA LCS) title at the Summer Playoffs 2019, taking down Cloud9 3-2 in the best-of-five grand final.
Liquid took game one in just under 30 minutes, but Cloud9 bounced back immediately, taking both game two and three, putting them just one win away from their first championship title in five years.
Game four ended up being incredibly close, with alternating gold advantages from objectives and kills from both teams. In the end, however, Liquid came out on top and was able to push through for a final decisive fifth game.
Game five was all Liquid, with Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen’s Akali having a particularly good game, including a crucial triple kill on Cloud9’s Tristan “Zeyzal” Stidam’s Alistar, Yasin “Nisqy” Dinçer’s Aatrox, and Zachary “Sneaky” Scuderi’s Xayah.
Liquid kept up the momentum and cruised to victory, finishing the series and cementing their claim as the best League team in North America.
Awais Honey defeats Knee in Malaysia’s FV Cup
Following in the footsteps of Evo 2019 champ, Arslan “Arslan Ash” Siddique, Malaysia’s FV Cup saw the rise of another Pakistani player in Awais “Awais Honey” Parvez.
Just like Arslan did at Evo, Awais defeated Tekken World Tour number one ranked player, Bae “Knee” Jaemin, in the grand finals.
Awais stomped Knee 3-0 in the first set to reset the bracket, and took the second set 3-2, which included a dominant fifth game, ending with a perfect round for Awais.
MkLeo heads up Nintendo’s Super Smash Bros. Ultimate Dream Team
In preparation for the upcoming Super Smash Bros. Ultimate World Challenge Cup, which is taking place in Kyoto, Japan on October 13 and 14, Nintendo is building a Dream Team to challenge the teams of Japan, North America, and Europe.
Nintendo has invited Leonardo “MkLeo” Lopez, Ramin “Mr.R” Delshad, and Nairoby “Nairo” Quezada, as its first members of the team.
While Nairo and Mr. R are both top-tier players, ranked at eighth and 36th in the world respectively, the undisputed leader of the team is MkLeo, the current world number one and reigning Evo 2019 Smash champion.
With the usual set-up of four players on each competing team, Nintendo’s super team still has one spot left.
Borderlands invades Fortnite in the new Fortnite x Mayhem limited-time event.
Fortnite’s latest limited-time in-game event features a new Borderlands-inspired zone.
The Fortnite x Mayhem event adds a new location at the oasis near Paradise Palms based on the planet Pandora — the main location for the Borderland games.
Players who participate in the event can also acquire limited-time event cosmetics including a Psycho skin and the robot Claptrap as a pet. The Psycho Bundle, which includes these two, can be purchased on the store using V-bucks or by pre-ordering Borderlands 3 on the Epic Games Store.
The limited-time event is available to all players until September 10.
