Team Secret win the Leipzig Major
Team Secret defeated Evil Geniuses, 3-2 in the Grand Final series of DreamLeague Season 13: The Leipzig Major. The intense five-game series saw both teams trading winning one-sided victories.
In the deciding game five, Secret’s strong midgame composition of Matumbaman on Phantom Lancer, Nisha on Kunkka, Zai on Batrider, YapzOr on Tiny, and Puppey on a support Enchantress, proved too much for EG, as Secret came out of the laning phase with a significant lead, and never looked back.
Despite EG’s best efforts, they simply could not stand up to Matumbaman’s Phantom Lancer, who seemed nigh unstoppable with a Heart of Tarrasque at the 25-minute mark.
Secret cruised to the championship from there, methodically taking down EG’s outer towers and demolishing their barracks to force the GG call after 35 minutes.
With their victory, Secret take home the grand prize of US$300,000 and 4,850 Dota Pro Circuit (DPC) points, which guarantees them a direct invite to The International 2020 (TI10) in Stockholm, Sweden in August.
Nauman wins Evo Japan with surprising Sakura pick
Ryo “Nauman” Sato stunned the Street Fighter V competitive scene by winning a stacked Evo Japan 2020 tournament with Sakura, a character most pro players consider low-tier.
Nauman stormed through the Evo Japan brackets where he met Kenryo “Mago” Hayashi in the Grand Finals.
Nauman immediately showcased Sakura’s new V-Skill II ability, using it to push Mago to the opposite side of the stage in the very first round.
However, Mago was able to recover and eventually took the first set to reset the brackets.
The second set was all Nauman, as he swept Mago 3-0 in convincing fashion, which included a near-perfect final round.
Book shows off the power of Leroy with undefeated win at Evo Japan
The top 8 at Evo Japan’s Tekken tournament was riddled with new DLC character Leroy Smith.
However, Thailand’s Nopparut “Book” Hempamorn proved to be the best Leroy, as he made it to the grand finals where he defeated Japanese pro, Ryoto “Mikio” Ikeda.
Book made repeated use of a deadly hit-confirm jab string at the wall, using it to clutch out rounds throughout the grand finals.
He also made great use of Leroy’s one-time use cane to secure the third game and put himself at tournament point.
In game five, Book managed to push Mikio to the wall and once again used his bread and butter hit-confirm jab string to close out the tournament.
The CGI remake of Pokémon: The First Movie is coming to Netflix this February
Pokémon: Mewtwo Strikes Back — Evolution, the CGI remake of 1999’s Pokémon: The First Movie, will launch on Netflix on February 27.
Like the original, the movie will follow Ash, Brock, Misty and their Pokémon as they attempt to thwart a plot by Team Rocket to create the super powerful synthetic Pokémon, Mewtwo.
Pokémon: The First Movie original debuted in 1998 in Japan, and was released for international audiences a year later.
