Team USA win the Overwatch World Cup
Team USA defeated 3-time champions, South Korea, in the Overwatch World Cup semifinals, and then made quick work of China in the grand finals, winning 3-0, to become the only non-South Korean team to ever win the event.
USA were led by Overwatch League MVP, Jay “Sinatraa” Won, who also took home the Overwatch World Cup MVP trophy, and Washington Justice DPS, Corey “Corey” Nigra. Both players were at the top of their game all tournament, and were crucial in USA’s victories over both South Korea and China.
Infiltration announces his return to competitive Street Fighter
Seonwoo “Infiltration” Lee has announced that he has officially ended his self-imposed exile and will be competing in the Capcom Pro Tour 2020.
In 2018, Infiltration voluntarily stepped down from the 2018 Capcom Pro Tour season, after news broke about a controversial domestic spat with his ex-wife. This forced Infiltration to put his Street Fighter pro career on hold, and withdraw himself from Capcom Cup 2018 and the entirety of the Capcom Pro Tour 2019 season.
However, he is now ready to make his comeback as he’s already registered for both Evo Japan 2020 and Final Round 2020, two events he won back in 2018.
FaZe Jarvis gets permanently banned from Fortnite for aimbotting
Jarvis “Jarvis” Kaye, a FaZe Clan pro player and Fortnite content creator, has been permanently banned by Epic Games for posting videos of himself using an aimbot cheat on Fortnite’s solo and playground mode queues.
Jarvis addressed the Fortnite community and all his fans in an emotional video on his YouTube channel. He expressed how important Fortnite is to him and that he understood that he had made mistakes and also apologized for his actions.
“All I was thinking about while making those videos is how entertaining and, like, interesting these videos would be for you guys to watch. It didn’t even cross my mind I could be banned for life from Fortnite for this,” Jarvis said. He also mentioned that it is his first ban and he’s never used the aimbot cheats in any of Fortnite’s competitive modes.
Matumbaman replaces MidOne on Team Secret
Team Secret has announced that Lasse “Matumbaman” Urpalainen has replaced Yeik “MidOne” Nai Zheng, who will be taking a break from competitive Dota 2.
MidOne has been the team’s midlaner since August 2016, having left his home country of Malaysia to play with Secret in Europe.
Matumbaman will take MidOne’s place on the roster as one of the most respected and versatile veterans of the scene, notably having won TI7 as Team Liquid’s midlaner. He will be moving to a new role as Secret’s Position 1 player, however, as the team’s former carry player, Michal “Nisha” Jankowski, will be their new midlaner.
