TSM win the Apex Legends Preseason Invitational
TSM bested 79 of the world’s best teams at the Apex Legends Preseason Invitational in Krakow, Poland, in the first-ever international championships officially organized by Electronic Arts and Respawn Entertainment.
TSM’s trio of Philip “ImperialHal” Dosen, Mac “Albralelie” Beckwith, and Jordan “Reps” Wolfe Dosen, managed to secure victory in the 11th game of the grand finals, defeating both Gamers Origin and MVP in the final skirmish.
For their first-place finish, TSM took home US$105,000. This is TSM’s second Apex Legends tournament win, after the EXP Invitational at ESPN’s X-Games.
Momochi takes home gold at the Asia Premier.
Yusuke “Momochi” Momochi put in a dominating performance at the CPT Super Premier Asia Premier event, which was held at the Tokyo Game Show.
Momochi was undefeated throughout the tournament, taking out some of the best Street Fighter V pros on the planet to reach the grand finals, including Hiroki “Kichipa-Mu” Asano, Naoto “Sako” Sako, Ren “Johnny” Sato, Hiromiki “Itabashi Zangief” Kumada, and Amjad “Angry Bird” Alshalabi.
He met Kenryo “Mago” Hayashi in the grand finals, defeating him 3-1 with an unbelievable time over ending in the final round to conclude the match.
JimmyJTran wins his first TWT Challenger event at Kumite in Texas
Jimmy “JimmyJTran” Tran has finally won his first TWT Challenger event, going undefeated at Kumite in Texas.
Jimmy is widely considered the world’s best Bryan player but has been unable to win a major tournament until now.
He faced fellow American, Marquis “Shadow20z” Jordan, in the grand finals, defeating him comfortably 3-1.
2K Games announces the first-ever NBA 2K Global Championship
2K Games has announced the first-ever NBA 2K Global Championship, a global competition with over US$100,000 in prizes.
2K has partnered with the NBA Players Association and global esports company, ESL, for the tournament, which consists of a series of online and offline events that will run from October 2019 to February 2020.
The competition will feature NBA 2K20’s Play Now mode and will have a series of online local qualifiers for the Americas, Europe, and Asia-Pacific regions that will lead to online playoffs, where the eight winners of each playoff will advance to their respective Regional finals.
The Regional finals will be held live at the ESL studios in Los Angeles, Paris, and Sydney, where each winner will receive US$15,000 and other prizes. The top eight players from the Regional Finals will then advance to the Global Finals on February 22, 2020 at the ESL studio in Los Angeles, where the global champion will take home the US$100,000 grand prize.
