Wild Rift finally enters closed beta
Riot’s Mobile MOBA, League of Legends: Wild Rift has officially entered Closed Beta, rolling out across the Southeast Asian region.
New features added to the beta include significant improvements to the in-game camera and control options, including a new semi-locked camera, picture-in-picture option, minimap movement, and custom button layouts.
Six new champions have also been added to the game, with Amumu, Dr. Mundo, Jarvan IV, Sona, Singed, and Varus joining the existing 36-champion roster.
Cosmetic items are now also available for purchase using Wild Rift’s in-game paid currency, Wild Cores. 300 items will be added in the form of skins, emotes, recalls, champ poses, in-game emblems, and Baubles, a new, fun mechanic that allows you to flex on your opponents after landing a killing blow.
The Wild Rift Closed Beta is currently available in Indonesia, the Philippines, Malaysia, Thailand, and Singapore with more markets to follow in the coming months.
iceiceice parts ways with Fnatic
Veteran Dota 2 offlaner, Daryl Koh “iceiceice” Pei Xiang, is leaving Fnatic, following his extended break from competition.
In an official statement, Fnatic disclosed that iceiceice has decided not to renew his contract with the organization for the following year. Fnatic explained that he has gained interest in playing for another region while extending his break.”
Iceiceice first signed with Fnatic after The International 2018 and has been the “heart of the Fnatic Dota 2 roster since joining,” according to the organization.
Since joining, he has helped Fnatic reach new heights as they became the best team in Southeast Asia. His accomplishments with the team include qualifying for TI9, finishing in third place during the Stockholm Major, and winning five-straight tournaments at the start of 2020.
G2 wins their seventh straight Ignition Series tournament
G2 Esports continues its historic run atop the European Valorant scene with a win at the BLAST Twitch Valorant Invitational, making it seven in a row for the squad.
No other team has won even a single European Ignition Series event.
In the BLAST grand final, G2 faced their toughest competition yet in FunPlus Phoenix, a team that, despite being just a month old, has already staked its claim as the second best team in Europe.
The grand final came down to the wire, with the match going the full five games.
In the final game, both teams traded rounds back and forth with neither able to get a significant lead. Late in the game with the score at 10-8 in FunPlus Phoenix’s favor it looked like it was all over for G2 when Johan “Meddo” Renbjörk gunned down both David “davidp” Prins and Patryk “paTiTek” Fabrowski, leaving just Oscar “mixwell” Cañellas in a 1v3. However, after taking out Meddo, mixwell was able to plant the Spike and win the subsequent 1v2 to keep his team’s hopes alive.
Revitalized by the clutch from their captain, G2 won the next three out of four rounds to put them at match point. At 12-11, and with FunPlus Phoenix’s economy in shambles, G2 took a quick and easy entry onto A site to win the tournament.
