The Electronic Entertainment Expo, otherwise known as E3, has been canceled. The once-dominant gaming convention will not take place in 2023.
This information came first from a report by IGN in which they state the Entertainment Software Association has elected to not host the event this year, despite just announcing its return a year ago.

E3 announce that the event simply didn’t get the interest it needed
According to the email, the team behind the event believed that 2023’s event “simply did not garner the sustained interest necessary to execute it in a way that would showcase the size, strength, and impact of our industry.”
Since then, the organization has tweeted a confirmation, and a statement was issued by the global VP of gaming at ReedPop, Kyle Marsden-Kish.
“This was a difficult decision because of all the effort we and our partners put toward making this event happen, but we had to do what’s right for the industry and what’s right for E3. We appreciate and understand that interested companies wouldn’t have playable demos ready and that resourcing challenges made being at E3 this summer an obstacle they couldn’t overcome. For those who did commit to E3 2023, we’re sorry we can’t put on the showcase you deserve and that you’ve come to expect from ReedPop’s event experiences.”
This comes following major publishers like Xbox, Nintendo, PlayStation, and Ubisoft revealing that they would not be attending the event.
The event was scheduled to take place from June 13 to 16 at the Los Angeles Convention Center, however, anyone who made plans to attend will now be free. It’s unknown what the future holds for the once-coveted gaming event in the coming years.
