Pokemon will always find a way to lift up your spirits.

February 23, 2020, was the day an adorable 7-year-old girl named Simone Lim won the Pokemon Oceania International Junior Championships.

The young Singaporean won the hearts of Pokemon fans around the world with her amazing tournament performance in Melbourne, Australia.

The Pokemon prodigy beat number one seed Justin Miranda-Radbord, an older and more experienced player who’s won multiple Pokemon tournaments, including the Hartford Regional Championships.

In the very last game of the grand final, Lim was down to her final Pokemon, a Tyranitar. Meanwhile, Radbord still had both his Rhyperior and Dusclops. With no room for error left, Lim was prepared for Radbord’s next move.

Lim correctly predicted that Radbord would protect his Rhyperior, which she explained in her post-game interview. This gave her the perfect opportunity to knock out Radbord’s Dusclops with Crunch, a Dark-type ability that Dusclops is weak against.

Lim then used Tyranitar’s Superpower attack on Radbord’s Rhyperior to finish the tournament and secure her first Pokemon Sword and Shield championship.

The young competitor then grabbed her Eevee plushie and gave the most adorable post-game esports interview we’ve ever seen.

The young champion gave a special shoutout to her friends, family, and coach, all of who helped her through her tournament run.

For her first-place finish, Lim was awarded US$1,500, or her choice of scholarship.
