The grand final of the 2022 LCS Summer playoffs saw an outstanding performance from C9 Fudge on our favorite top lane Yordle, Gnar.
Cloud9 took an early 2-0 lead in their championship match against 100 Thieves. In the third game, top laner Ibrahim “Fudge” Allami and his squad were up by 4,000 gold lead by 23 minutes, and were looking to push the advantage to close out the series.
C9 Fudge delivers a deadly Gnar slam that leads to an ace
Cloud9 cleared out enemy wards around the Baron and river, leaving the map completely dark on the side of 100 Thieves. Once 100T started to take out their wards at a jungle choke point, Robert “Blaber” Huang’s Wukong flanked the enemy team from behind.
The two teams traded blows at the beginning of the fight, with Choi “huhi” Jae-hyun’s Alistar losing around 70% of his health. As the Alistar player flashed in retreat, Fudge’s Gnar closed in with his own flash and hop, slamming two opponents into the wall, claiming a double kill.
Blaber took the brunt of the damage coming from the enemy team and stayed alive with Chronoshift from Nicolaj “Jensen” Jensen‘s Zilean and his own Stopwatch.
Working alongside the unkillable frontline, Fudge and Kim “Berserker” Min-cheol’s Sivir hunted the remaining members down for the ace. Following the fight, Cloud9 increased their gold lead by 8,000 and claimed the Baron.
By the 29-minute mark, Cloud9 sieged the enemy base through the mid lane, securing the third and final game to win the championship series.

Cloud9 reacts to championship victory, Blaber gets sentimental
The LCS Championship victory was a resounding finish to the C9 squad’s arduous Summer run. Despite losing three matches in the first week of the split, Fudge and the boys eventually found their groove and qualified for the LCS Summer playoffs in fifth place with an 11-8 record.
The team also went through substantial roster changes during the split, such as the return of two-time LCS champion Jensen and the role swaps of both Fudge (from mid back to his original position at top), and Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen (bot laner to support).
Having won the LCS Championship in a different role, Zven explained his newfound dynamic with the team during the post-match interview.
“I have a psychopath of a jungler and a really good AD carry with good mechanics. I realize I do whatever it takes. I pick Lulu or Yuumi and press E. It’s not pretty, but it gets the job done,” he said.
Things got quite sentimental during Blaber and Fudge’s interview. The top laner praised Blaber’s leadership during drafts and said that he pushes the team to learn more champions. He was brought to tears when the crowd cheered him on and chanted “MVP”.
“I’m really grateful for the teammates that I have and the fans. I just thank you all so much and I really appreciate it,” said the jungler.
The 2022 LCS Championship is the fifth LCS title of Cloud9. The last time the boys in blue picked up an LCS trophy was during the 2021 LCS Mid-Season Showdown.
Cloud9 has qualified to the Worlds 2022 Group Stage as the LCS’ first seed, while runner-up 100 Thieves will be the region’s second seed.
