The first split of Champions Queue, a low-ping practice environment for North American League of Legends pros, ended on March 8.

Players who finish in the top 50 will earn Season Points. Evil Geniuses’ prodigy mid laner Joseph “jojopyun” Joon Pyun became the first player to top the leaderboard in the inaugural split.

Three Evil Geniuses players were among the top five on the Champions Queue leaderboard, including academy bot laner Muhammed Hasan “Kaori” Şentürk and top laner Jett “Srtty” Joye.

Support Kim “Olleh” Joo-sung from Golden Guardians and Cloud9’s academy bot laner Jesper “Zven” Svenningsen rounded out the top five.

At the end of each split, Season Points are awarded to the top 50 players, and the players with the most points will earn up to US$12,000.

When does Champions Queue take place?

There will be two seasons, one in Spring and Summer, held during the year. The Spring season will be from February 7 to May 23, with three splits each lasting about a month.

Split 2 will begin on March 14 and run until April 12, followed by April 18 to May 24 for Split 3.

Meanwhile, the Summer season will run from May 30 to September 26, and similarly be divided into three splits.

Finally, a post-Worlds Pre-Season Brawl will be held from November 17 to December 13.
