With the conclusion of their 2022 season, LCS team Evil Geniuses has officially announced the departure of coaches Earl “Rigby” Han, Gabriel “Turtle” Peixoto, Connor “Artemis” Doyle, and Sebastien “ZzLegendary” Demontigny.
The coaching quartet led the organization to its first-ever LCS Championship earlier this year. In the Spring final, EG swept reigning champions 100 Thieves to claim the LCS throne.
With the championship victory, the team went on to represent the region at MSI 2022, where they made it all the way to the semifinals.

Evil Geniuses bids farewell to four coaches, head coach Rigby to return to South Korea for military service
The team finished LCS Summer 2022 regular season in first place with a 15-3 record. During the playoffs, EG came close to bagging their second LCS trophy, but lost to 100 Thieves in the lower bracket final.
At Worlds 2022, the third LCS seed saw a dominant performance in the Play-In Stage, beating other hopeful contenders like LJL’s DetonatioN FocusMe and LEC’s MAD Lions.
Despite the strong start, the team struggled against Group B opponents JD Gaming and DWG KIA, and was eliminated after the Group Stage with a 1-5 record.
Clocking in almost a year under the EG banner, head coach Rigby had nothing but praise for the organization. Rigby considered their Worlds 2022 run as his “last dance” with the team as he will now return to South Korea to serve compulsory military service.
“[It] hasn’t been a long time, but I’m thankful to the players, EG, and fans for being part of my short ride. It may have been the best career for me so far, but I hope the team can do better in the years to come,” he wrote in a tweet.
Assistant coach Turtle also expressed his gratitude in a Twitter thread. “EG gave me the best opportunity I could have asked for coming from a minor region in 2021. I finish this chapter happy and proud of what we achieved in 2022,” wrote Turtle.
Evil Geniuses will return in 2023 for the LCS Lock In, the region’s official kick-off tournament of the competitive season.
