For the first time, League of Legends fans won’t need to take a break from watching LoL esports between Summer playoffs and Worlds.
The Asia Star Challengers Invitational (ASCI) 2022 will be held for the first time this year from September 12 to 25.
It will feature professional teams from challenger and academy leagues in South Korea’s LCK Challengers League (LCK CL), China’s League of Legends Development League (LDL), Japan’s LJL Academy League, the Vietnam Championship Series B (VCS.B), and the Pacific Championship Series (PCS).

ASCI 2022 opens up a new avenue for academy teams to shine
ASCI’s goal is to give academy league teams and players a platform to compete internationally at a more competitive level. It will also give these players a chance to gain experience and grow as professionals.
The 16 teams will be divided into four groups of four during the Group Stage, which will be played in a best-of-one double round robin format.
The top two teams from each group will advance to the Knockout Stage, where they’ll compete in a best-of-five single elimination bracket. The winner will walk away with the inaugural ASCI championship.
More information on the tournament will be released at a later date.
