Week 2 of the League of Legends Champions Korea (LCK) Summer Split featured a stunning performance by Gen.G Lehends on Singed.

Son “Lehends” Si-woo is known for his unconventional picks in the support role, so it was no surprise that he drafted the toxic tank champion during Gen.G’s match against DWG KIA.

Lehends’ Singed looks to be a favorite in this particular matchup between the two teams. He debuted the champion back in the 2022 LCK Spring Split against DWG KIA, utilizing Fling and Mega Adhesive as lockdown tools in team fights.

Gen.G Lehends steals the Baron for the game one win

In game one, Lehends made a game-winning play during a late-game Baron contest.

As DWG KIA focused on taking down the Baron, Lehends, equipped with Unsealed Spellbook, swapped out Ignite with Smite and patiently waited outside the Baron pit. Once the Baron was low on health, the Singed player simply walked in and stole the Baron with a perfectly-timed Smite.

Positioned behind the wall of the pit, Choi “Doran” Hyeon-joon’s Gangplank dealt critical damage with his Powder Kegs and even took out Seo “deokdam” Dae-gil’s Xayah. Park “Ruler” Jae-hyuk‘s Zeri capped the final fight by hunting down the rest of DWG KIA for a flashy quadra kill.

Following the ace, Gen.G stormed the base from the top lane and destroyed the Nexus to secure the game one victory.

However, that outcome was far from certain. During the post-game interview, Lehends said that he was actually scared to steal the Baron because he had never taken Smite with Unsealed Spellbook.

DWG KIA gets slowed, poisoned, and thrown around by Singed

In game three, Lehends drafted Singed as a counter pick to DWG KIA’s Yuumi. When asked why he chose the Mad Chemist again, his answer was absolutely priceless.

“Actually there were several things prepared. I wanted to give DWG KIA nightmares again with Singed, so I picked him. I’m always ready to pick him,” said Lehends, according to an Inven Global translation.

At the 17-minute mark, Lehends lured Kim “Canyon” Geon-bu’s Volibear and Kim “Kellin” Hyeong-gyu’s Renata Glasc into the river. As the rest of Gen.G closed in, the Singed player placed Mega Adhesive right on top of the DWG KIA duo to slow them down.

After activating Insanity Potion and flinging Kellin back to his teammates for the kill, Lehends ran through the jungle chokepoint with his Poison Trail, dealing damage to the remaining DWG KIA members. The team walked away from the fight with four kills and soul point.

Gen.G eventually closed out game three by initiating a clash inside the enemy base. Working with Ocean soul and a 9,000 gold lead, Lehends and his squad dogpiled on DWG KIA for the ace, then destroyed the Nexus to win the series 2-1.

After that performance, Lehends was awarded Player of the Game, the first support player to win POG in the 2022 LCK Summer Split. The Gen.G support said that he was glad that they won, but wasn’t too thrilled about the POG award with Singed since he’s not a typical support champion.

Gen.G remains undefeated with a 3-0 record and will face Fredit BRION on June 24 at 8 p.m. GMT+9 | 7 p.m. GMT+8 | 11 a.m. GMT | 4 a.m. PT.
