After weeks of battle across a double-elimination bracket, the final stage of the LCS Spring 2022 playoffs is imminent.

100 Thieves, Team Liquid, and Evil Geniuses will head to the NRG Stadium in Houston, Texas, this weekend to decide the LCS Spring 2022 champions and the North American representative at the Mid-Season Invitational 2022.

Team Liquid will take on Evil Geniuses in the lower bracket final on April 23, and the winner will advance to face 100 Thieves in the grand final on April 24.

Originally down 0-2 in the upper bracket final, 100 Thieves came back to win three games, reverse sweeping Team Liquid to book a direct spot in the grand final.

Meanwhile, Evil Geniuses’ rookie squad made the top three in the playoffs for the first time since 2020 after a 3-0 win over Cloud9, one of the preseason favorites.

Two of the three challengers, Team Liquid and 100 Thieves, are former LCS champions, while Evil Geniuses are in their first finals since 2020.

After four splits of coming just shy of the finals, EG took a gamble and promoted Academy player Joseph “jojopyun” Joon Pyun to the starting roster, a move which paid off handsomely. This may be the brash mid laner’s first-ever LCS split, but he talks and plays like a veteran with supreme confidence.

The lower bracket final between Team Liquid and Evil Geniuses will be a rematch, after they faced off earlier in the playoffs. Team Liquid came out ahead during that game, taking the series 3-2.

Houston will also be the stage where jojopyun and Søren “Bjergsen” Bjerg lock horns again. The two mid laners have shared a friendly rivalry throughout the split, going back to the Lock In tournament. The storyline of the cocky young rookie taking on the all-time greatest LCS player is one that is helping shape this highly anticipated rematch.

The winner will take on LCS Summer 2021 champions 100 Thieves, who overcame a slump in form during the regular season to book their spot in the grand final.

Despite ending the regular season with a 12-6 record below Team Liquid, 100 Thieves prevailed 3-2 in the upper bracket final against Liquid.

Felix “Abbedagge” Braun on Twisted Fate saw a backdoor opportunity when all five Team Liquid players were contesting the Dragon Soul, leaving their Nexus wide open.

He then teleported into their base and pulled off a sublime backdoor play, ending the series and sending 100T to the grand final.
