In one of the last updates of the year, Riot Games has decided to spice things up before preseason 2022 with League of Legends patch 11.21, starting with a big buff to mage champion, Lux.
Despite selling skins like hotcakes, Lux has not been on the radar. In Season 11, she was only buffed twice. Her base armor and basic attack damage was increased on patch 11.1, while Lucent Singularity’s late game damage and AP ratio was slightly increased on patch 11.10.
League of Legends patch 11.21 is here to change that with massive buffs to the Lady of Luminosity.

Mid and support Lux buffs on League of Legends patch 11.21
Base Stats
- Attack speed per level increased from 1% to 2%
Passive – Illumination
- (Update) Let’s light it up: Illumination mark duration extended if Lux’s basic attack is already in flight to the target, or if R – Final Spark is being cast
E – Lucent Singularity
- Damage increased from 60/110/160/210/260 (+65% AP) to 70/120/170/220/270 (+70% AP)
R – Final Spark
- Cooldown decreased from 80/60/40 seconds to 60/50/40 seconds
How these buffs impact mid lane and support Lux
The most important spell for mid lane Lux is Lucent Singularity (E) as it is used for wave clear. Its base damage has gone up by ten at all ranks, with a boosted 70% AP scaling ratio.
In the earlier levels when Lux is still building towards her first item, Lucent Singularity won’t be able clear minions with one cast. Now that her ultimate’s Final Spark cooldown has been drastically reduced to a minute at rank one, she can now one shot waves with these two spells, recall, buy AP/Ability Haste items, and by the time she’s back in lane, her ultimate will be off cooldown again.
This means that on League of Legends patch 11.21, Lux’s wave clear ability will be unparalleled and unmatched. Combined with her long range and burst, she’ll definitely a pain to deal with in lane.
“This champion for me, I think she’s S-tier,” reviewed Tim “Nemesis” Lipovšek in a League of Legends patch 11.21 rundown video with analyst and T1 content creator, Nick “LS” De Cesare. “I also think people are going to need time to learn how to play against her. Her E is not dodgeable if you play Lux well.”
For support Lux, the buff to Lucent Singularity’s base damage means she’ll deal more damage and poke champions down harder at bot lane, even without starting AP items.
Lastly, the change to her Illumination passive is significant for advanced players. Lux’s full combo involves procing the extra damage from her passive with an auto attack, and this change makes it easier to weave it in.
