Valir is one of the most popular mage heroes with a high win rate in Mobile Legends: Bang Bang.
He specializes in unleashing damage from a distance while having abilities to deal with enemies that move close to him. Burst Fireball (1st skill) is his long-range nuke that has an in-built slow and stun effect, while Searing Torrent (2nd skill) pushes enemies away.
His ultimate ability, Vengeance Flame, removes almost all debuffs, allowing him to cast enhanced spells if he gets initiated on. Coupled with his passive skill, Ashing, he deals a lot of damage per second in team fights.
There are, however, a handful of heroes who can effectively expose his weaknesses.
Best counters to Valir in Mobile Legends
Hayabusa
What makes Hayabusa strong against Valir is the multiple blinks from his second skill, Ninjutsu: Quad Shadow.
You can use it to narrow the gap and avoid Searing Torrent. Even if you get pushed back, you can still close in by teleporting to the shadow near him. Take him down using the Ougi: Shadow Kill ultimate.
If he uses Winter Truncheon to counter the Ougi: Shadow Kill, wait it out and eliminate him with the Ninjutsu: Phantom Shuriken, which has a low cooldown and damage that stacks.
Kaja
The only debuff that cannot be removed by Valir’s ultimate is suppression, which Kaja has in his ultimate, Divine Judgment.
Choose Sprint or Flicker for your battle spell to close the distance. Make sure to cast Divine Judgment on him using the Hero Lock feature in the controls settings. Drag him to your allies using Lightning Bomb’s dash.
If you have a magic burst item build, you have the potential to solo kill Valir. Hide in the bush and wait for him to use the Searing Torrent, then execute your skill combo. If you’re a roamer, make sure that your teammates are nearby when you initiate.
Franco
Among the few heroes who have abilities with suppression effect, Franco has the one with the longest duration when he uses his Bloody Hunt ultimate.
Flicker is a must for you to cut the gap and hold Valir down in place. Coordinate with your allies to quickly burst him down.
You can also pull him in with the Iron Hook, although this is a less reliable initiation. You’ll need to put in a lot of practice time to increase your hook accuracy — plus a good Valir player can easily avoid getting pulled with a perfectly timed Vengeance Flame.
