Sky Wee is a full-time streamer and professional Mobile Legends: Bang Bang player. He has more than one million followers on Facebook, with a large Southeast Asian audience.
Known by the title “King of Fighters”, he excels on an assortment of fighters at a high level, even when they are not in the meta. He’s expanded his hero pool to include gun-slinging marksman Granger.
He became so good at Granger that he even managed to beat top MPL Indonesia pro players in ranked on this hero.
Here are five tips from Sky Wee on how to excel on Granger
1. Use Assassin Emblem and run Retribution
I will always choose Assassin Emblem for this hero. In the first row, I take Agility for the movement speed, then Invasion for Physical Penetration, and lastly Killing Spree for bonus health and movement speed. In my opinion, Emblem wise, you do not need to change it every game, for this set up suits all situations.
Next, you need to choose the right Battle Spell. As he is played in the jungle, Retribution is the best.
However, there are situations where you’ll need to adapt. Take Purify when the opposing lineup has a lot of crowd control, especially heroes that can stun.
If you see burst damage heroes on the enemy team, you should take Flicker instead.
2. Buy Raptor Machete, Brute force Breastplate, and Endless Battle as core items
When Granger is played as a jungler, rushing Raptor Machete is the most natural choice as he needs to farm up and scale.
Granger is a marksman who doesn’t have a lot of HP, so I highly recommend buying Tough boots for the magic defense and reduced crowd control duration. CC is the biggest threat to him.
As such, Brute Force Breastplate, frequently built by junglers, is ideal, for you’ll get additional 750 HP and 50 flat Physical Defense. A heavy basic attack hero like Granger will benefit from the additional movement speed, armor, and magic resist stacks.
Buy Hunter Strike not only for its attack damage, but also cooldown reduction and armor penetration. When you deal damage five times in a row to a creep or enemy hero, you’ll gain increased movement speed by 30% for three seconds, synergizing well with Brute Force Breastplate.

Next, Endless Battle is bought for lifesteal and true damage. You can then round off your item build with Blade of Despair to maximize your burst damage.
While this build — Raptor Machete, Tough Boots, Brute Force Breastplate, Hunter Strike, Endless Battle, Blade of Despair — is suitable for all situations, you’ll still need to adapt if there is a threatening, high damage marksman hero on the enemy team.
Depending on the game, you can choose between replacing your boots or Hunter Strike with Wind of Nature, which makes you to be immune to all Physical Damage for a short two second duration.
3. Max Granger’s first skill, Rhapsody, and master his basic combo
Always max out your first skill, Rhapsody, so that you can deal increased burst damage to jungle creeps and enemy heroes.
Then, practice this basic combo: Rhapsody (1), Death Sonata (3), Death Sonata (3), Death Sonata (3), into Rondo (2).
For advance tactics, I recommend using his ultimate, Death Sonata, over a wall to shorten the interval in between Super Bullets.
4. Focus on objectives early on, then focus on killing these enemy heroes in team fights
In the early game, you should focus on objective such as Turtle, your buffs, and farm.
Like any jungler, during the mid game you should roam and gank different lanes. In the late game, I highly recommend that you focus down the opposing mages and damage dealers.
Don’t forget to position well in team fights in order not to get caught, of course.
5. Combo with support heroes, but watch out for these tanks and fighters
When playing Granger, it’s always great to pair with these support heroes: Diggie, who can remove crowd control effects, Angela, whose ultimate can protect him, and Rafaela who gives additional movement speed and healing.
Jawhead also works well, for he can stun opponents, and flip to protect Granger.
However, watch out for these extremely dangerous threats. Chou and Akai can easily stun Granger. In the jungle, he can also be invaded by Yu Zhong and Uranus early on, so beware.
Overall, I advise you to focus on your positioning on Granger when you play him. Always train your aim when you use his ultimate, Death Sonata. You should be aggressive but smart when playing Granger.
