Johnson was a big factor for Bigetron Alpha against Geek Fam, snapping their four-series losing streak this season. Here’s how the red and white squad dominated with the off-meta tank.
Johnson’s sudden appearance in MPL ID Season 8
With the match score tied at 1-1, Bigetron Alpha’s Deven “Renbo” Markos locked in the Mustang to counter Roger and Saber picked by Geek Fam.
The hero choice was a huge success. He acted as a meat shield in team fights, and was the main initiator against the physical damage-heavy lineup of Geek Fam.
His passive, Electro-airbag, was very important for the side of Bigetron Alpha, as it meant the squad had a very reliable shield whenever Johnson’s health is lower than 30%.
Renbo also ran Execute for his Battle Spell, which resulted in three kills in the first 10 minutes of the game. He also went for Warrior Boots and Blade Armor as his first two items, so Saber and Roger had a difficult time killing him in team fights.
In the end, Bigetron Alpha finished the game in just 12 minutes with a kill score 23-12.

The reason behind Bigetron Alpha’s Johnson tank pick
Core player Jabran “Branz” Bagus explained that the pick was unique since they don’t use the hero in scrimmages.
“If you go for a pick off hero, Johnson is effective. It was proven in our third game. It’s certain that all their skills will come out for Johnson in team fights,” said Branz in the post-match interview session.
