The Overwatch League’s Seoul Dynasty, as well as its parent company Gen.G Esports, have pledged to donate all the proceeds from their March Homestand to support the charities and victims of the ongoing coronavirus (COVID-19) outbreak.

Gen.G Esports COO, Arnold Hur, revealed that, after speaking with the staff, players, and coaches of both the Seoul Dynasty and Gen.G Esports, they will be donating 100% of the proceeds from the March Seoul Dynasty Homestand, merchandise sales from both Gen.G and Seoul Dynasty, as well as the in-game skin sales from Seoul Dynasty until the end of March.

The March Seoul Dynasty Homestand will be taking place in the Dongdaemun Design Plaza in Seoul on the weekend of March 7-8, where the Seoul Dynasty will host seven other Overwatch League teams. The team also has another Homestand scheduled on the weekend of May 9-10.

“We’ve seen how amazingly global the esports community is and I think we’ve also seen firsthand how one problem in one part of the world is actually a problem for all of us. That got us thinking what our responsibility should be, both as individuals as well as an organization, to support those most affected by the virus,” said Hur in a statement posted on the official Seoul Dynasty Twitter account.

“We know this is very small compared to how big of a problem this is, and we thought that this can also be a unique opportunity for us to come together as a community to support those most affected by the virus.”

As many as 27 countries have been affected by the coronavirus outbreak, with over 75,000 cases and 2,000 deaths having been confirmed thus far, as reported by Channel News Asia.

Esports tournaments and leagues across the world have also been affected by the ongoing epidemic, with the Overwatch League notably canceling the Homestands previously set to be held in China and moving them to South Korea.
