On the heels of hoping to someday organize a large-scale 10,000-person tournament, Daigo “The Beast” Umehara has recently announced that he and his team are holding an online Street Fighter V competition which focuses on beginners.
After making his intentions to “recharge the fighting game player population” clear, Daigo looks to be doing his part in enticing more gamers to join the fighting game community, in the hopes of bringing back the golden age of fighting games.
In a post via his official Facebook page, the FGC legend promised, “Those who lack tournament experience and those who are not very confident [in their play] are most welcome!”
The official page of the Beast Cup stipulates that, “Anyone can enjoy the tournament, as the team will match and balance its participants accordingly.”
Beast Cup will feature a team format, and includes players with less than LP4,000 or starting from the Ultra Silver rank in Street Fighter V: Champion Edition.
Additionally, the event rules indicate that participants who aren’t able to form five-person teams will still be allowed to register, as Daigo’s Beast V squad will then arrange groupings to accommodate any incomplete teams.

Daigo and Keita “Fuudo” Ai, both well-known Japanese Street Fighter V players under the Beast Mildom banner, will be making appearances at the event, as well as some surprise guests who have yet to be revealed. The winners of the tournament will be able to take home Beast Road T-shirts.
Registration will continue until November 18, in which participants are required to create a tournament table and, of course, have a copy of SFV and their own Discord account. Daigo’s Mildom team will be broadcasting the event through Red Bull Gaming Sphere Tokyo, and interested viewers may tune in on November 22, also through Discord.
