The Capcom Pro Tour 2021’s first online regional premiere is set to take place this weekend (April 17-18) — and it’s the big one. That’s right, all the best Japanese players will be battling it out to determine who qualifies into Capcom Cup VIII, which will be held in early 2022.
The Japan 1 online qualifier for Capcom Cup 2021 has a total of 511 competitors listed. This includes all the prominent Street Fighter V names in Japan.
The headliners of the qualifier are Daigo “The Beast” Umehara, Hajime “Tokido” Taniguchi, Masato “Bonchan” Takahashi, Kanamori “Gachikun” Tsunehiro, Yusuke “Momochi” Momochi, Naoto “sako” Sako, and many more.

Day 1 of Pools is set to take place on April 17 at 1:00 p.m. GMT+8. The first day of the qualifier will also include the Top 16, happening at 6:00 p.m. GMT+8. The Japanese online regional premiere will then conclude on April 18, with Day 2’s Top 8 tournament scheduled at 6:00 p.m. GMT+8.

Capcom Pro Tour 2021 has more than 30 online regional premiers set across 19 territories. The Japan 1 online qualifier is one of four regional premiers in the country, which is two more than the previous season. In addition, the top four finalists of each online premier will split a prize pool of US$5,000.
