The final Street Fighter V Champion will be crowned in the next few days.

47 of the world’s best SFV:CE players have gathered together to compete in Capcom Cup IX, the annual Street Fighter world championship tournament hosted by Capcom.

This will be the last year Street Fighter V: Champions Edition headlines Capcom Cup, with Street Fighter 6 set to be released soon.

The top players from the 19 online premiers, 156 World Warrior events, the LCQ, and Evo 2022 will take center stage as they battle for a US$300,000 prize pool and the Capcom Pro Tour trophy.

What is Capcom Cup IX?

This annual fighting game tournament features the top performers from the Capcom Pro Tour. The players that qualify for Capcom Cup must have won a Capcom Pro Tour online premier tournament, or a World Warrior Circuit.

The reigning Evo 2022 champion, Masaki “Kawano” Kawano, will also be competing in the tournament, along with the winner of the Last Chance Qualifier that’s set to take place on February 12 and 13.

Capcom Cup IX format

The 47 qualified players were divided into eight groups. Each group will have players compete in a single round-robin best-of-three matches.

Only the top two players in each group will advance to the final bracket. The winners of each group will advance to the upper bracket, while the runner-ups will continue their run in the lower bracket.

The final bracket — more commonly known in the fighting game community as the Top 16 — is a double-elimination bracket where all the matches, including the grand final, will be a best of five.
