The ONE Street Fighter Tokyo Challenge kicked off with a match between Team Korea’s Kung “Verloren” Hyung-suk, Kim “Sigurros” Jung-soo and Sim “NL” Gun facing off against Team All-Stars’ Jonny Lai “HumanBomb” Cheng, Zhuojun “Xiao Hai” Zeng, and Kun Xian “Xian” Ho.
The tournament follows a format that requires a team to defeat all opposing members to win the match. First, Verloren was able to defeat Humanbomb during the first set of the team match.
Next, Sigurros showed off his stylish F.A.N.G play and was able to defeat Xiao Hai in two quick rounds.
With Team Korea going up 2-0, it was all up to Singapore’s best Street Fighter V player Xian, to win it for Team All-Stars. Xian was able to keep his team alive by defeating NL in a hype Ibuki versus Akuma match up.
Xian then matched up against Verloren who decided to pick Cammy and managed to win two hard-fought rounds.
After Verloren’s match against Xian, he was informed that he was not allowed to change characters since the tournament has a character lock rule. He then had to run it back against Xian where they played an Ibuki versus Ibuki mirror match and Verloren was able to win the match for Team Korea again.
